Communication and supervision on this trip will consist of camp counselors, team leaders and Rabbi Mendel. Rabbi Mendel will be available on his phone for communication with parents if necessary.
You can also use the Remind app at any time of the day or night to message us with any questions. Will do our best to respond asap.
We will send a link via the remind app with picture updates. Please make sure you are on the second session messaging group.
Note that this overnight is like camp with regard to the NO CELL PHONE policy.
Kids with phones on them during the trip, will be asked to give staff the phone to hold until the trip is over. If a child refuses to give their phone to staff, they will not be allowed to join the trip, if the phone is discovered during the trip, the camper will need to be picked up. It is a 2-hour drive from camp, each way.
If parents cannot let kids on the trip without a phone, please do not send your child on this trip.
Overnight trips are designed for the maximum benefit of children growing, socializing, and learning independence. If a child has a phone, misbehaves, leaves the group, is disruptive to campers or staff, breaks rules and refuses to correct their behavior, you will be called to pick up your child, regardless of what time it is. This is especially important with regard to quiet time at night and respecting those who are sleeping.
Sending your child on the trip is your consent to all the camp and overnight rules including the no phone policy which keeps kids safe, socializing and having fun.
Please speak with your child about behavior on the overnight, respecting staff guidance, quiet time at night and not leaving the tent after quiet time.
If children disrespect staff, each other or make noise at night will be guided to better behavior choices, if they do not listen, you will be called and asked to come pick them up. This can be at any time of the night, please speak with your child before the trip about proper behavior.
Our camping accommodations will be at the Lake Compounce Campground. We have reserved our own area at the camping location for our camp.
About the camping site that we will stay at:
We will not be staying in cabins, rather we will be sleeping in tents; children may not sleep outside with no tent. Please make sure to send a tent for your child, or that your child will have a tent to share with a friend of the same gender. Children will be assisted by the staff to create tent groups. No one will be left without a tent even if you don't have your own.
The camp site has bathrooms, showers, and a covered pavilion. We will enjoy the camp site attractions, when time and availability allows.
Please read the overnight packing list for more important information.
